Over the past week, while visiting my wife’s family up in the Pacific Northwest, I had attended Mass a couple of times. First, for Easter Sunday, which was of course packed with people, and then the following Sunday for the Second week of Easter. The contrast in attendance was staggering and yet somehow not all that surprising. On Easter Sunday, there was practically not even standing room available. Not a soul was going to miss out on Easter Sunday. And yet, for some strange reason, that same love for the Mass (or for God) didn’t see...
